I have been training with Bill Corbett since September 2013, three days a week. As a 42 year old, full time working mother and wife life is busy as it is for many of us. I had been through some tough times, working long hours and neglecting my own health and needs for a very long time. There was always something that needed to be done, always something or someone more important that needed my focus and time. I had heard Bianca Dye from i98fm talking about Bill and did some research. I had tried numerous diets, attended gyms and had personal trainers only to find that it didn’t fit with what I needed or the diet was not sustainable so the weight came back on, plus some. I made contact with Bill and met him and I have to say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I liked his approach, I didn’t need a best friend I needed someone to give me a kick, know what I needed and work with me to achieve my goals. To date I have lost over 32 kilos, something I know I couldn’t have done without Bill, his diet guidance and exercise regime. I am now passionate about my health and exercise and actually look forward to my sessions (which were once a chore). Every session is different, challenging, unique and I leave feeling strong in both body and mind and knowing that I have achieved something new each day. I’m no longer sitting on the side watching everyone have fun, I am in there having fun, knowing that what I am doing and the changes I have made are not only good for me but good for my family and friends. I was very active as a teenager in many sports but I can truly say I don’t think I have ever felt this strong, healthy and fit.

I am 49 and wanted to get fit and lose a few kilos before I turned 50. I told everyone that I wanted to be 50 and fab not 50 with flab! I first heard about Bill on my way to work on i98. It sounded too good to be true. I wanted to know more so I looked at his website and went along to Michelle’s testimonial at the Master Builders Club where I met Bill. I found Bill and Michelle both positive inspirations and very easy going. She looked amazing! Bill was very confident that I could reach my goal in a short space of time, I thought different but I trusted his confidence as I saw it in Michelle. That following week I went along for a free session and loved it! It has been nearly 7 weeks now and I train 3 days a week with either Bill or Patrick and in between I attend the boxing for fitness classes, I am there 6 days a week and I wish I could go 7! Every training session is different and that’s what I love about going to training, you don’t get bored. I also have a 20 year old knee injury and Bill is working on strengthening the surrounding muscles so I am relieved of any pain or discomfort. I feel like a new woman in this short space of time. I believe in Bill, this man knows what he is doing along with his knowledge on weight loss and diet he just astounds me. Some of the food that he tells me I can eat, I never thought I could. In 7 weeks I have lost 9.1kg. My initial goal was to lose 7kg and Bill laughs at me now as my goal has been reached and his job is done. I am going to continue on with my weight loss and fitness journey as I am having so much fun besides why would I want to stop when I am feeling so good? I haven’t felt this good in years!!
I have been attending boxing sessions with Bill and Pat since about November last year. Initially I only attended the boxing sessions and more recently personal coaching sessions. I am 57 year old male who had been involved in sports and exercise for the best part of my life but found the normal weight losing exercises no longer worked. Running was my major weight loss remedy. Unfortunately my knees and ankles no longer wanted to be bashed on the pavement. Never having any boxing training I was convinced by some mates that I would enjoy the physical work out with Bill and Pat. I never looked back. After Christmas I saw one of Bill’s female clients doing personal sessions. Michelle’s weight loss and transformation inspired me so much that I talked to Bill about some personal sessions for myself. The initial discussion gave us both a chance to talk about expectations, injuries, training history, and diet so a training plan could be developed to work within your own physical limitations to achieve the best outcomes. The end of February I started personal sessions at a weight of 98 kgs. I now weigh 87 kgs feeling strong, fit and healthy. My diet has changed and coupled with two personal sessions and some boxing sessions weekly have had amazing results. The weight loss is not the only benefit as the training is fun, doesn’t wreck your body just enhances it and I have met some great people. The higher fitness level I have achieved has really helped my outrigger and kayak paddling as well as everyday life. Anyone who may need some motivation to make a start to a fit and healthy life style talk to Bill or Pat and come join us.
I started training with Bill after seeing the success that my wife Michelle achieved. Not only did she lose a lot of weight she was fit, strong, healthy and athletic. I have been very active most of my life playing high level sport but suffered two serious knee injuries that limited the activities that I could do. Michelle had injuries that significantly improved and are now no longer a problem under Bill’s training so I decided to give it a go before undergoing surgery. I have been training with Bill for a month now and I no longer have daily pain in my knee and am able to do things that I couldn’t previously. I can’t believe how quickly I am seeing results, how much energy I have and how great I feel in such a short space of time. I am feeling strong, fit, lean, toned and healthy and enjoy every session I do with Bill – I would be there every day if I could. I can honestly say this is the best training I have ever done I feel fitter now than I did when I was playing sport!
4 weeks ago I was just shy of 90kg… Today thanks to Bill and Pat I am 83.5kg. The combination of training and boxing has worked and is actually enjoyable!
Training and fighting under Bill Corbett has been one of the most educational and liberating experience of my life. Bill Corbett trained me from a grass-root level, and honed me into an athlete that was skilled enough to compete with some of the most experienced women fighters in Australia. Without Bill’s constant support, conscientious care, and significant experience and knowledge I would never have become the fighter I did. I attribute my success as an athlete and my 2012 NSW state title entirely to Bill and his son Patrick. I can honestly say I do not know any trainer who could achieve such results with me as Bill did. Thank you Bill for helping me achieve my dreams.
My name is Bib Phrakaysone and I am a coal miner by profession. I overheard a conversation at Windang gym by members about how the trainer that does Tuesday and Thursday had helped one of the security guards lose 50 kilograms. I didn’t know him except from training at the Windang gym a few times. I asked could he help me lose some weight and he told me to keep a record of my food intake for a week. One week later I was presented with an eating plan. I have never followed a diet in my life but I followed the plan he gave me without being hungry. I have lost 30 kilograms in 11 weeks (with a few parties in between). This is the lightest I have been since I was 15. My job has been made easier, my knee and ankle pain are almost gone. I have 10 kilograms to lose but even now I cannot describe the difference it has made to my family and sporting life.

Four years ago while walking on the footpath I was run down by a drunken driver. I received extensive injuries to my neck, back, ankle, knee and have suffered with sciatica. I have received all sorts of treatment over this time without much success and had no calf muscle on the left side until recently. I started training with Bill Corbett and during this time I did eexercises to make my left side mirror my right side.
Through boxing , daily use of the elliptical cross trainer and movement drills I have regained the use of my knee and ankles. Bill has found me a pair of Nike basketball shoes that have a strap on the ankle and my calf muscle has returned in this last period of training. Bill has met with my physiotherapist, who was so impressed by my progress he has booked in to start training with Bill. I have been recommending Bill’s whole approach to life to all my friends. Our corporate group now have nine people training including my legal representatives.

I have known Bill Corbett since 1992 first as an instructor at the PCYC, then as a professional boxing trainer for Bill Mordey’s Friday Fight Night cards and also as a gym owner who specialised in preparing people for peak performances in all kinds of sports.
As a sports reporter I have written many stories and covered many sporting events of successful athletes who have been trained by Bill Corbett.
He is a boxing trainer with immense knowledge and the ability to impact his knowledge to his fighters, many of whom he has guided from the junior ranks to the senior professional level.
No matter what sport Bill Corbett turns his hands to, he is a trainer of exceptional skill.
Sub-Editor Illawarra Mercury, Former Australian boxing promoter
I first met Billy Corbett in 1989 when I was promoting boxing for Australian cable TV networks with my late father Bill Mordey. Billy was training young, professional boxers out of the Bulli Police Boys’ Club on the South Coast of NSW. He guided world-rated boxer Shannan Taylor for most of his career who, under Billy’s coaching, was undefeated in 27 fights – most of them in elite international competition. His stable of boxers appeared regularly on SKY and FOX Sports boxing promotions; always professional and reliable in their attitude and superbly conditioned for the rigours of the sport.
Our boxing company Fightvision was impressed by Billy’s talent as a trainer and his ability to teach his charges personal values both in and outside of the boxing ring. We commissioned Billy to train our world-rated South African fighter Lovemore Ndou, unbeaten in 12 fights for him and whom he helped manoeuvre into a number one position to challenge for the world lightweight championship.
Billy’s training methods varied to the individual but the basis of his coaching was fitness. He was the first Australian boxing coach to utilise blood counts and testing in and out of competition – a mandatory practice nowadays and a training legacy he forged.
I travelled overseas many times with Billy and his boxers, with great success, and he was highly-regarded by his international peers. To this day I remain firm friends with Billy and his family. I would thoroughly endorse him to any future employer, particularly in the areas of coaching, strength and fitness. Billy’s best attributes are probably lost on some people. He calls a spade a spade; has a willingness to adapt to further his knowledge and is as ferocious to a task as any hungry dog to a juicy bone.
